Water Hyacinth
This is one of the easiest plants to grow as it requires no soil at all. Just place it in a pot without holes and it multiplies like mad. Its lavender color flowers remind me of Krishna’s peacock feather. The bees love them and if you see them buzzing near the plant when it has no flowers it is a sign that the flowers are coming. Of course, in summer bees use the plants as a landing strip to drink water. Another reason why I like the plant so much.
It is considered an invasive species as it can spread like crazy and block waterways and ponds completely. However, if you can contain it, it is a lovely easy plant to have in your water garden. I have had some trouble with it because it seemed to fade away after a while. I realized I was giving it no fertilizer. Therefore either add NPK to the water or use an aquatic tablet in the water to help the plant. I also use foliar sprays that I use across my garden like the Fruit Ferment or just the mix of EM1 and molasses. Of course, if you don’t mind using chemical fertilizers you can use Phostogen as well. I have tried a new ferment of whole green lentils with molasses and rice starch water and that has also worked well.
To propagate just pick up one of the plants and place it in water. You will be handing them off to people in a very short time.

They’re such fast, beautiful and easy growing Aqua plants!
They multiply very fast and are actually invasive in nature.
They are invasive but if contained are gorgeous right?
Thanks for the write up. How much sun do they need in summer?
They need to be shaded from 12-4
