Planting schedules for the Gulf climate!

I have had a lot of queries regarding my planting schedule for vegetables and seasonal flowers. While I do plant a lot from seed it is a great idea to pick some vegetables as saplings and take it forward. I plant specific seeds that I like and then add the saplings of other vegetables later in the season. The file is a work in progress, and I will just add a google sheets link that I will update as I go along.

The few big factors you need to take into consideration are the general temperature as well as your own microenvironment along with the kind of vegetable you want to plant and the length of time from seed to fruit. For example – gourds should be planted earlier as they do need the warmth to germinate so outside under the shade. Some tomato varieties like the native tomatoes need the warmth so I normally plant them the first week of September. You can plant the others as you go along. If you have a very warm garden with just delay your planting by about 10 days from my schedule and if you have a very cool and sheltered garden, you can start a week earlier. But the thumb rule is that temperatures should be around 40-41 degrees centigrade or less.
